Covert Ops
I'm planning to make a real evergreen garland for my living room. Does anyone know how to do that? Any links or tips? There's this one huge, overgrown pine tree outside that sits sort of in the corner of where 4 properties come together. Not sure who's it is. I attack tonight. Clippers. Wheelbarrow. I don't actually have a wheelbarrow, so I'll have to steal one from my neighbor on the other side. I mean borrow. Did I say "steal"? I'm getting way too excited about all this.
Katie, ask Martha. She knows how. Seriously though, Just get some floral wire and start wrapping the boughs together, one overlapping the next. In no time you will have your garland. Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteDo I have to run a piece of string or rope or something all the way down the length of it? I tried to call Martha to ask her, but she was too hung over to talk.
ReplyDeleteOh my god! I finally posted a comment! I haven't been able to in months. It was my stupid browser! Oh wow, I'm hanging out down here more often.
ReplyDeleteI really like you guys. Ok, it's dark now. Should I go steal some boughs from my neighbors? It's 20 degrees out there. I'll wear a ski mask.
Hahahaa... was it a successful operation? Reminds me of my mom, who is always finding mistletoe and bittersweet in random places and gathering it.
ReplyDeleteHow did it go?! I made a short one several years ago out of cedar trimmings (which I found out that I'm allergic to so it was an itchy affair) It turned out nicely. Work from left to right, like reading a book. Lay down your first piece, fluffy end to the left, stem to the right. Now lay down your next piece overlapping that one, fluffy end to the left and the stem to the right. Twist green floral wire around the 2 to connect them (may need to do this in 2 spots for strength depending on how big your pieces are & how long you want your garland) Continue with your next piece-always with the fluffy end to the left and the stem to the right...and on & on & on! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteloved reading the comments, Kate! you are so cute!
ReplyDeleteHave fun making your wreath!
Did you get caught?
ReplyDeleteI bet you could use a widget to get out of anything. Or sap. You could cover their eyes with sap before they could see it was you.
Either way, I want to see pictures.
I agree with Chelsea, you probably could get out of anything with your crafty skills...a real life femal McGuyver!
