waiting
Here's a picture of me waiting in the Radcliffe library for my date with a boy named J.D. His short stories are brilliant and have been published in The New Yorker, but I fear, entre nous, that he may be a little too misanthropic for me.
Speaking of fiction, don't you love the outfit? You can make a giant flower like this white one by cutting up old t-shirts. Look!
Cut a strip of t-shirt fabric, stitch down the middle, gather, fold in half lengthwise, and roll it up.
Blob some fabric glue on the back and stick it to a circle of fabric.
Wear them on a date or stick them in a vase! Because don't you totally need a little Spring right now? I do.
.
Lovely! I'm going to go make some right now.
ReplyDeletethose are gorgeous!! how did you secure them together after you rolled them?
ReplyDeleteOh MY!! I LOVE IT!!! I am going to do this for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
pretty pretty!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! those colors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteyou can blob a bunch of fabric glue on the back and stick it onto a small circle of fabric. it's the same technique i did for my mistletoe hairpins. i'll add a pic that shows the step. and, yes, the old t-shirt colors come to life as flowers. i almost burned out my retinas sewing the hot pink one.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant! By the way, I got the pull toy today and, WOW. It is absolutely perfect. Well, except for one thing. The string needs to be longer so it can follow ME wherever I go!
ReplyDeleteOn my list. Also on my blog. crafterhours.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBecause I love it. Now to choose the shirts that will be reincarnated as flowers. I'd like to be reincarnated as a flower some day. Not now. Later.
must say I love it
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful. I hope the evening was worthy of you. Can't wait to make some flowers today. And a hedgehog too. What could be better a hedgie and a bunch of flowers!

ReplyDeleteDont you hate it when you comment and then realize you misunderstood the "story". Well, the model does look gorgeous and the flowers are so fun. I am discovering that I have far too many t-shirts in brown or white. Well I guess it's an excuse for Goodwill. Love the do it yourself versions of those beautiful accessories. You really are brilliant.

ReplyDeleteI run a thrift store, this is a great idea for the t-shirts we have. I love it when our customers turn something old into something unexpected. I'm going to share it on our Thrifty sister facebook page.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I've pinned this one for future reference... now where is my glue???

I absolutely love these... I am getting married in April and am trying to do as much of it diy as possible... any suggestions on how to attach stems for a bouquet?? Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteI save my stems from silk flowers that I've cut off to use on wreaths. You can cut a hole in the round bottom piece of material and insert the stem up through it and the center of the flower and hot glue into place. I've also used small pieces of corn stalks. If you dry out the corn stalks really well, they resemble flower stems.
DeleteI picked up two purple t-shirts, and as soon as the glue dries on the rose...I'll be able to sport one of these myself!
ReplyDeletedid I miss the measurements? How wide the strip? How long the strip?
ReplyDeleteNicole, pipe cleaners might work :)
ReplyDeleteI had a blast making these. Occupied my lap while watching TV. We always have a homemade Christmas with my dad's side of the family, and all my cousins loved them! I added a hair clip to the back, as well as a pin to put on a shirt or jacket. THANKS!~

ReplyDeleteMy sewing skills are pretty basic--how do you get the ruffle effect? Does it occur naturally when you sew or do you need to do something special?
