Homemade Toy Fireflies

I can't stop laughing at these little lightening bugs I made with the girls a couple of weeks ago. Plastic Easter eggs with flameless LED tealights inside.
Super easy. Doesn't even really need to be tutorialized. The light just pops into the egg. You don't even need glue or anything. You can poke holes in the egg with a nail to get the pipecleaners in. Wings are duct tape.
My original post is over at Ohdeedoh. Great way to repurpose leftover holiday decorations.
Proto-lightening bug version with glittery scrapbook paper wings and puff ball eyes. See? The options for bug body parts are limitless!

  4. I can not believe I just pitched the plastic eggs thinking that with no young ones at home I would be better served just buying more eggs if I ever needed or wanted them. Where would I find them now, in the middle of summenr? Just another joyful idea from you!!

  10. Hello again!
I believe I've featured you before, but just in case, I will go through the details haha :) I'm a writer for www.craftingagreenworld.com and this week I'm doing a round-up on recycling plastic Easter Eggs. I saw your post on how to make homemade toy fireflies and I think your post would be absolutely perfect for this round-up! In order for me to feature you, I just need permission to use one of your photos from your post. In the post, we will show your photo, provide a short description, and link back to your site. Our goal is to get our readers to go to your page to read your tutorial. If you would be interested in me featuring your site, please let me know as soon as possible! I would like to have this post up by Thursday :)
