Score!
I just snagged this chair for FIVE DOLLARS at a garage sale down the street! We were on our way to the grocery store, and I yelled, "Jon! Turn the car around!" He balked at first, but then I starting clawing at my seatbelt and threatened to jump out while the car was in motion, so he turned around. I'm foaming at the mouth! The uphostery is shot, but the frame is rock solid. Oh, the possibilities! What fabric should I use to reupholster it? Should I paint the frame? Tell me what you guys think. I need your design input. How do you envision the "after" picture?
White wood with gray corduroy. But I've been in a gray corduroy phase lately... it may pass...
ReplyDeleteBlack with a bold fabric... maybe orange?
ReplyDeleteLike Maggie's chair! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteand maybe a little jealous, too
Cherry stain with a elegant fabric! Wow she has some nice legs on her, no wonder you were drooling.
ReplyDeletewhite with hot pink fabric!!
ReplyDeletelike a spanish dancer-outfit: deep roze with little black drops..
ReplyDeleteI can't wait what you'll gonna do with that chair. The possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteOh the fabric possibilities are endless... but I definitely wouldn't paint it. I'd sand it and finish it natural. This is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Erin, no paint. I wouldn't even sand it. Old wood is gorgeous. I would use something with pattern. Someone else said hot pink, I second that! This chair is clearly a girly girl! Great find!
ReplyDeleteThat would look great with a deep purple fabric, maybe crushed velvety type. I would love to have that chair myself. =)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an antique ladies chair.... I would never consider painting it!!! yikes.. it is possibly beautiful rosewood. Victorian or Edwardian. Have it reupholstered in any fabric and it will be stunning. This was the find of the century. Great eyes!
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the posting? What ever happened to this chair? :)
