I'm curious

What kind of animals do you like for nursery decor? Bears? Birds? Lions? Woodsy animals in general? Circus animals? Sloths?

I'm sorry I won't be able to pay you cash for participating in my market research, but I can pay you in a) tutorials and b) stories about my cat. You're going to die when I tell you what she's been up to lately.

  1. woodsy animals are where it's at for me--deer, birds, squirrels, foxes, etc. I find circus-type animal themes to be creepy, mostly because I find the circus creepy (but Cirque du Soleil is fine--in fact, love it--but there are no real animals in the Cirque). Beeper's nursery started off sort of with a woodsy animal theme...and somehow evolved to have linking red monkeys on the wall (like from the Barrel O' Monkeys game) and spiderman comics all over the floor today...

  2. Hrm...I'm in the process of coming up with new decor for both kids' rooms (a three year old girl and a one year old boy) and...I'm actually not using animals! The girl is getting a Cupcake Room, in princess colors, and the boy is getting...either robots or space ships. ;-)

I love elephants for nurseries, though...

  3. Whales, woodsy stuff (incl owls, birds, deer), and I think a vintage circus theme could be adorable. My son's nursery has octopus curtains and they are pretty rad.

  4. I love woodland animals: owls, foxes, deer, hedgies, toadstools (not strictly an animal), and all of those cuties.

...I'm also very fond of a "gardeny" theme: birds, bees, lavender, maybe a cat...

Circus?...I like the elephants, but I don't know about the circus...

  7. Woosy Animals... I think. I don't actually have a nursery, or children for that matter though...

  8. I like the goofy ones -- elephants, hippos, monkeys, hedgehogs. but realistically represtnted -- ya know?

  9. I'm a zoologist and so like any animals as long as they aren't dressed up.
Sea life, woodsy critters, bugs, frogs, & turtles-I just hope my son likes them as much his mama! oh! Sloths would be great! I like seeing the under-represented animals get some notice :-)

  10. I love elephants and rabbits (I guess that's why my shop has so many of them). Elphant pull toys would be darling!

  11. I like teddy bears but also woodsy animals or toy animals.

  12. what about crocodiles and bees...they could scare away all of the monsters that live under the bed and in the closet!!

  13. As a general rule, I try to avoid those matchy-matchy theme-type rooms. My daughter's nursery was a well-put together hodge podge of vintage nursery rhyme prints, vintage books, bold and bright scandinavian linens and furnishings, and as far as animals - there were birds (a bird mobile, lamp, and wall decal - that's as matchy-matchy as I could take it). and of course, her beloved teddy.

can't wait for the tutorials and to hear what the cat's been up to!

    best,

  16. I love woodsy animals myself but I decorated my kid's nurseries in loose themes based on peter rabbit (oh, that is woodsy!) and trains. Not the same nursery obviously.

  17. recently I'm leaning towards goats. abitofwhimsy on etsy has a cute pattern, but I think the concept can be improved upon. Maybe a billy goats gruff theme.

  18. I like any animals that are not creepy circus animals. Okay, maggots and the like, well, maybe not for a nursery. I think any kind, stylish animal, sans clothes and creepiness would be good in a nursery. My kids love their elephant and squirrel, by the way. :)

  19. Whales, foxes and polar bears are the animals I'm going to coerce my son into liking as soon as he's old enough.

  23. I like snuggly animals for babies. Since babies are so snuggly. So things like bunnies for girls and bears for boys. I love the classic winnie the pooh animals (all of them) but especially how they drew little piglet.
Also little lambs make cute decor for babies rooms.

  24. I love the woodsy stuff-especially white owls and rabbits. I love the woodsy animals dressed in flannels and wearing appropriate hats. Good stuff.

  25. elephants, skunks, sloths, porcupines, squirrels,
monkeys, manatees, PIGS, weasels, snakes, bats, spiders
I'm serious. I think we need to get over this fear of things like snakes and skunks.
the best place to start is with babies.

  26. We started off with retro astronauts for the older girl, and cowgirls and horses for the little one. As they grew, one switched to clouds and rainbows and the other to monkeys and bananas.

If I got to choose another nursery though, it would definitely be woodsy animals.... deer, owls, squirrels, toadstools and trees....

For some reason, I gave lots of friends who do a jungle theme for boys and a woodsy theme for girls. Not sure why, but there it is.

  27. Oops. I mean I HAVE lots of friends... not I gave. I don't give my friends away, but I'll always share!

  28. I'm a young mom without a nursery. but if my baby were to have animals around the nursery, they would definitely be some lions, tigers, panda bears, turtles, caterpillars, and the ugliest animal I can think of. actually no... I hate yucky animals. I hate roly-polys. so none of those type of crawly insects. but definitely dust bunnies
