Happy Easter, jelly bean heads

Did the Easter bunny come to your house? Did the Easter bunny fill the eggs with the old "one for you, two for me" technique? Mmmm, nothing like a midnight jelly bean feast. Last night Ethan, who is 10 now, said, "Mom, is there rrrreally an Easter bunny?" I said yes, of course there is because how else would the eggs get in the backyard? He said that I could buy them myself. I said, "And you think I get out of bed in the middle of the night, sneak out there, and hide them in the yard while you get to sleep? Isn't it more plausible that a giant magic rabbit actually does it?"

But on this beautiful jelly bean and chocolate bunny filled day, I also do my best to remind my children to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. So let us remember the oppression of the chickens, and how they courageously rose up to throw off their rabbit overlords and forced the evil rabbit dictator to redistribute the egg wealth on that glorious Spring day so long ago. Viva la revolucion!

Coming later this week: I will scientifically prove that Mod Podge does indeed rock.

  1. I don't know if I've ever LOLd for real but the true meaning of Easter with rabbit overlords actually made me laugh out loud. Thanks!

  2. Ha. Your son looks so amused.

It rained here ALL weekend, so just ate the evil chocolate overlords in efigy {inside}, along with our strawberry shortcake (no symbolic there...just deliciousness). Yum.

  3. ROFL - YES!!! Viva La Revolucion!!!!!

  4. A yes the true meaning of Easter! How could we forget the bunny overlords.

  5. Viva la Revolucion! LOve it.

  6. I laughed so hard at the "isn't it more plausible" line that my husband came over to see what he was missing! I just found your blog: I think your lion was on Cherry-Coloured, which led me to your flickr and now I am a fan!
