Let's Make Those Gnomes! (A Wordless Tutorial)

I saw that my little gnomes got pinned and figured maybe some of you would like a little tutorial? How about a revolutionary tutorial that is absolutely wordless? Pictures only. You can do it! I will say this, however. The beards are dimensional paint. That is all. Oh, and the cones are water cooler cones (you can get big packs of them at office supply stores for cheap). I used them because they are fairly water resistant and hold up to the plaster. Ok, that is all. Oh, and they've been outside now through sun, rain, and snow, so they really are good for outdoors. That is all. Maggie calls them gobblins. So cute, that kid.

  1. HEEEE! So cute! They look like they're tickled pink to be in that flower pot and it makes me giggle. XD

  2. Love them! The plaster intimidates me a bit but I know, I know. Go big or go home! Great tutorial!!

  3. Great idea for a tutorial, though I do have a question (forgive my ignorance). I've never used plaster, so is the toilet paper/cup thing just a mold, then?

  4. Yes, Rachel Q, just peel away the paper/cup stuff after the plaster has fully set.

  7. I will be making these as soon as I can :) Do you have a facebook page for your blog or a follow button? Stayed up late last night reading your blog, decided to paint our huge computer desk and my daughter and I are looking at the chandelier to see if it can be changed. I think your blog and Pinterest will become dangerous places for me to be!

  9. You work with so many different craft supplies that are not even in my vocabulary--or that just plain freak me out. But that is what I love about you. You are part crafter, part mad scientist--really, admit it. I mean, whoever knew you could even use water cooler paper cups together with plaster in any sort of meaningful way--and that it would look so good?

  12. I used acrylic craft paint. Those little $1 bottles. And polyurethane. Also a little bottle. Forgot what brand. But it did say outdoor on it.
